Pork Giniling

 

Filipino Pork Giniling Recipe

Servings: 4-5

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

1 lb ground pork
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, chopped
2 medium potatoes, diced
1 medium carrot, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
1 cup green peas
1 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup water or beef broth
2 tablespoons cooking oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat.

  2. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant and translucent.

  3. Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.

  4. Pour in the soy sauce and fish sauce, stirring well to coat the pork.

  5. Add the diced potatoes and carrots, then pour in the tomato sauce and water or broth. Stir well.

  6. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.

  7. Stir in the bell pepper, green peas, and sugar. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Simmer for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

  9. Serve hot, typically over steamed rice.

  10. You carve it with fried banana. (optional)

Tips:

  1. For added richness, you can crack an egg on top before serving.
  2. Adjust the sweetness or saltiness to your preference.
  3. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
